Presented at CES 2026 in January, the new Fire TV features are starting to take shape. The new interface began rolling out in the United States last week. From now on, it is the Fire TV mobile application which benefits from an in-depth update on iOS and Android.
An interface that breathes better
Until now, the app provided the bare minimum: replacing a remote control lost between two cushions. With this new version, Amazon wants to go much further. The smartphone becomes a real command center for browsing catalogs, adding content to your playlist and directly launching a film or series on the television.
« Millions of customers use our Fire TV mobile app as a backup remote, but we knew it could do more », Explains Amazon. Now, if a friend recommends a series during dinner, it is possible to add it to their watchlist from the phone. Once she gets home, she will wait quietly on the Fire TV.
This mobile evolution accompanies the complete overhaul of the Fire TV interface. The most visible change is none other than the navigation bar, which moves to the top of the screen. The reception also gains clarity. Users can now pin up to 20 favorite apps, up from six. Enough to avoid playing the game of musical chairs with its streaming services.
Amazon talks about a “more modern” design: rounded corners, new gradients, revised typography and better balanced spaces. But the promise doesn’t stop at appearance: the code has been reworked to speed up everything, which is often the downside of Fire TV devices. The group cites gains of 20 to 30% in speed in certain cases.

Amazon actually wants to help us spend less time searching for what to watch. According to a Gracenote study cited by the company, Americans spend on average 12 minutes choosing a program, compared to 10.5 minutes in 2023. An eternity when you have already decided to “only watch one episode”.
The new interface further highlights content from all subscriptions, whether films, series, sports or live. Pressing the “Menu” button provides quick access to games, photos or the “Ambient Experience”. A shortcuts panel, accessible via a long press on the Home key, centralizes audio and video settings, Ring cameras and even connected objects.
The update is rolling out to iOS and Android in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan and India. In the United States, it is already available on the App Store, with a gradual deployment of new functions in the coming weeks.
