The objective of the call is to energize the data ecosystem in Spain, facilitating the participation of entities in sectoral projects. For example, an agri-food company will be able to finance its incorporation into a primary sector data space to share information on production and logistics.
The management of the program corresponds to Red.es, a public entity attached to the Ministry. In addition, the Data Space Reference Center (CRED) will be in charge of guiding interested parties. It will also be responsible for energizing ecosystems in collaboration with data spaces. It will do so in order to facilitate access to this aid, as well as to accompany the entities during the incorporation process.
These aid, articulated by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, are aimed at public and private entities, as well as Public Administrations. They will cover the costs associated with joining, data preparation and publishing products in data spaces.
Depending on the type of organization requesting aid, two levels of maximum amounts will be established for it. Private and public entities with economic activity will be able to access a maximum of 15,000 euros if they consider incorporating as a participant, or up to 30,000 euros if they want to do so as a supplier. In addition, Public Administrations may have up to 25,000 euros if they join as a participant, or up to 50,000 euros if they do so as a supplier.
Applications for aid can be submitted until March 31, 2026, and will be resolved on a non-competitive basis, in order of arrival and until available funds are exhausted, taking the Digital Kit as a model of success as a reference.
The data spaces that applicants can choose to join include those deployed in the Plan to Promote Sectoral Data Spaces, the National Health Data Space, and those identified in the new Trusted List of Data Spaces, which will soon be launched (the ministerial order that regulates it will be published in the coming days), and which is expected to be operational throughout the last quarter of 2025.
This voluntary and informative registry will be an inventory of the data spaces considered as reliable ecosystems, and will provide a reference point for consultation. Existing spaces whose responsible entities have tax domicile in Spain or in the EU may register in it, as long as they have an establishment or branch in Spanish territory. The list expands the number of data spaces eligible for the Data Spaces Kit and therefore becomes a complement to request aid.
Both initiatives are designed to function in a coordinated manner. Thus, the kit provides the resources for incorporating entities, while the list takes care of establishing the frame of reference.
Oscar López, Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Servicehas pointed out in this regard that «Data is the fuel of the digital revolution. A key driver for innovation and competitiveness in the midst of a technological race. According to the European Data Market Study of the European Commission, the data economy will account for more than 5% of Spanish GDP in 2030. With this call, we want to help public and private entities to get on the data train«.
