Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone may finally be taking shape. If early reports are accurate, it could land with a seriously premium price tag.

According to a new report, the device could cost around $2000 (around £1500, although likely to be priced on par with the US). This would place it firmly at the top end of Apple’s smartphone lineup, putting it above the current best iPhone.

The figure surfaced alongside details of Apple’s broader product strategy. This strategy appears to be expanding at both ends of the market. The company recently introduced the $599 MacBook Neo, a lower-cost entry point to its laptop range. But it’s also said to be preparing several high-end devices that push further into “ultra” territory.

The foldable iPhone is expected to be one of those flagship products. While Apple hasn’t confirmed any details, the reported pricing would position it well above the current iPhone Pro Max models. It would be closer to premium foldables from competitors like Samsung.

Other high-end products are reportedly in the pipeline as well. A touchscreen MacBook Pro is said to be targeting a fall launch window. This marks another potential shift in Apple’s traditional hardware approach. Meanwhile, new AirPods models with built-in cameras are also rumoured. These AirPods are designed to provide visual context for Siri and other AI-driven features.

Taken together, the strategy suggests Apple is experimenting with a wider range of price points. Devices like the MacBook Neo aim to bring new users into the ecosystem. On the other hand, products such as a foldable iPhone push further into the premium category.

For now, the foldable iPhone remains firmly in the rumour stage. But if the $2000 estimate proves accurate, it would likely become one of the most expensive iPhones Apple has ever released. It would also be a clear signal that the company sees foldables as a luxury-tier device rather than a mainstream upgrade.
