first laps of the Xiaomi E-Scooter 6 Ultra
Might as well attack with the flagship. Displayed at 799 euros launch Price, it still offers a lot, with a remarkable finish.
First shock, the weight. The scooter is heavy and the 33.7 kilos are felt. The height of the deck, logical given the suspensions, penalizes maneuvers on the ground a little more. The turning radius is not the best in the category.
The new features are good to have, starting with a finally useful screen: display of the time (for a vehicle which is used to go to the office and needs to be held with both hands, this is essential). A non-touch screen (so much the better) that can be controlled from the controls on the left and settings accessible on the scooter (in addition to the application). So much the better again.
The handlebars are curved for better ergonomics and it works. Even if that of a Ninebot Max G3 is a little more ergonomic.
The deck is a little high (which made testing in the parking lot with low ceilings and hanging panels a little tricky). A height linked to suspensions with a travel of I don’t know how many millimeters, but to the adjustment delivering a good compromise between rigidity so as not to hit the stop when hitting the first sidewalk, and flexibility so as not to ruin the kneecaps on the paved roads of a small picturesque neighborhood.
Braking is very good, with a stop in 3 meters launched at 25 km/h.
Boost mode announces 0-25 km/h in 2.8 s, in homage to the SU7 Ultra which does 0-100 km/h in a second less (which is crazy when you think about it).
The tires did not pose any real problem with grip on the smooth surface of the parking lot.
To calm this beautiful picture, let’s talk about peak power. The scooter didn’t have any trouble going up the slopes of the parking lot, but it wasn’t monstrous either. Less than the bright yellow and the “ultra” wording led us to hope. But let’s wait until we put it through the roasting pan of a good family test to conclude things.
In terms of design, we like it or not. Personally, I really love it. It’s a change from 50 Shades of Gray as exciting as the eponymous film. The finish appears excellent. Durability also seems to be on the agenda, to the point of titillating the queen of Ninebot, the famous Max G3, sold at the same price with similar characteristics but a radically different technical approach and geometry.
So much for this first approach. The test is in progress. So stay tuned to find out more.
Getting started with the Xiaomi E-Scooter 6 Pro
As explained in the presentation, the “Pro” label is actually mid-range. The selling price of 549 euros sticks to the average basket of €500 for buyers of electric scooters in 2025. For this price, the handlebars become straight again and the screen is once again devoid of any useful information.
The rear mechanical brake was also lost and you have to rely on magnetic braking. In the parking lot test, it took me 4.5 meters to stop while being launched from 25 km/h. It’s way too much.
On the other hand, the comfort provided by the new design is real. In addition to the delicate footrest called kicktail which finally offers support and the very wide deck, it is the delicious mix of 12-inch wheels and elastomer suspensions which makes it a joy when it comes to gliding. It’s fluid, soft, comfortable.
The power is not great but again, let’s wait until we take a real test route. The acceleration is moderate and is intended for beginners and regulars looking for a tool to move at 25 km/h.
First opinion
Xiaomi delivers Xiaomi here, in the positive sense of the term. The finishes are clean, the designs successful, the technologies seem well mastered.
These first spins made me want to know more. Firstly because it’s my job, then above all because it feels good to see this machine so affordable and practical (an electric bike offering quality and equipped with a similar battery costs 3 times the price of the Ultra) come back to the forefront, far from the media controversies and other incriminating articles.
Finally, I am a victim of marketing and a geek. Also, Xiaomi’s sleight of hand with the gimmicks of the SU7 Ultra (including this very successful yellow paint job) totally works, although the Scooter 6 Pro is obviously the most attractive proposition in terms of price-performance ratio in the range.
