With remote work, virtual classrooms and live streaming becoming mainstream, the demand for high-quality webcams has surged. Built-in laptop webcams, which often provide grainy and low-resolution images no longer cut it. Now EMEET has launched its S800 SmartCam, a 4K webcam offering enhanced video and audio for a variety of tasks.
This new webcam promises high image quality, flexible design and user-friendly features. At the core of the S800 is support for UHD video resolutions up to 4K at 30 FPS or 1080P at 60 FPS. The S800 has a ½-inch Sony image sensor with an f1.8 aperture and a focal length of 4.71mm. The wide aperture is useful in low-light conditions. The S800 has an HDR feature, which can be activated using the EMEETLINK app.
The HDR functionality of the S800 combined with multiple metering modes provides optimal results across different settings, making the webcam suitable for a wide range of uses from a corporate presentation to a live streaming session.
The S800 has a dual autofocus system that combines Phase Detection Autofocus with Time-of-Flight technology, resulting in responsive and precise focusing. Unlike traditional single autofocus systems, this combination enables the S800 to focus faster and more reliably. It minimizes the lag and inaccuracy of focus hunting, enabling the webcam to quickly lock onto subjects especially in dynamic environments with changing lighting conditions.
The webcam has a customizable field of view ranging from 40° to 73° for adjusting framing and composition. A narrower field of view can help minimize distractions during meetings, while a wider angle can capture larger spaces or showcase presentations.
Audio quality is as important as video and the S800 addresses this by including two noise-canceling microphones with advanced noise suppression technology, able to filter out background noise within a 10-foot range. This feature is particularly useful in busy offices or general background noise.
The EMEET S800 has a flexible stand that can be adjusted to suit a range of scenarios, from standard desk setups to higher-angle shots. The webcam also has a standard ¼ inch thread for use with tripods.
The S800 is designed to work across multiple platforms and operating systems. It works with software like Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Cisco Webex. The webcam is also fully compatible with Windows 7, 10, and 11 and macOS 10.14 and above without the need for drivers. Operating in USB Video Device Class (UVC) mode, the S800 is plug-and-play.
Setting up the EMEET S800 just requires a spare USB-A port. The USB 3.0 and 2.0 compatibility ensures high-speed data transfer for a stable and reliable performance. The EMEETLINK app enables the S800 to have its firmware updated and its options customized. To ensure privacy, the webcam has a physical cover over the lens to prevent any unauthorized access.
