A short history lesson of the saga. Although an entire generation has surely discovered the zombie universe of Danny Boyle with 28 years laterreleased last summer, it all started more than twenty years ago. In 2003, the British director and screenwriter signed 28 Days Laterthus giving a second boost to the zombie genre, and inspiring many who will follow it.

In this feature film, we follow Jim, played by Cillian Murphywaking up in an abandoned London hospital, without knowing that a virus had contaminated the entire country, transforming its inhabitants into infected people, who will more commonly be called zombies (yet, nuances exist). We’re going to spoil the end of the film for youbut it’s almost 23 years old, so is it really a spoiler?

During the final sequence, Jim, accompanied by Selena (Naomie Harris) and young Hannah (Megan Burns) survived and live in an isolated house in the countryside. They try to alert a plane so that it can come and pick them up. Will they be saved and taken away from danger? The feature film does not answer the question.
Just like its sequel, 28 Weeks Laterthis time produced by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Here, we follow new characters, without our three protagonists from the first being mentioned or seen. Here again, what will happen to the survivors? Mystery.
28 years later, a character returns!
With the return to the helm of Danny Boyle, who will repudiate 28 Weeks Later from the start of 28 Ans, Many fans were hoping for an appearance from Cillian Murphy. Moreover, we remember that a theory had panicked social networks when the first trailer was released, when we saw a cadaverous zombie whose features could resemble those of the actor. Would Jim and his blended family ultimately not have survived the years? The director and the actor were amused, but it was indeed nothing of the sort. A simple wink?
Written (still by Alex Garland) and produced at the same time, 28 years later: the temple of the dead is entrusted in the hands of Nia DaCostathe time for Boyle to close the trilogy himself. But this time, it seems that the fans have made up their minds, Cillian, taken by the filming of the film Peaky Blinderswill not come back. Just as we think the film is finished, a new scene opens on a house in which a young mixed-race girl and her father live. A father played by… Cillian Murphy ! Yes, Jim is alive and well after so many years and it seems he had a child with Selena! The duo leads an isolated and peaceful life, almost as if the infection has not yet reached their home. Moreover, he makes his offspring review the history of the Second World War while he makes a little tea. Little House on the Prairie. Hearing a noise, they see Spike and his new friend in the distance fleeing from the infected. They decide to help them. END.
Like a final credits opening with the cult theme of the first, the story of 28 Ans and that of 28 Days will therefore, probably, reunite in the third part. Many questions remain, starting with the fate of Selena and Hannah. Are the two women dead? If yes, in what way? Are they simply out of the house at this time and will we also see the actresses in the next film?
