Ever wondered why one post gets tons of engagement while another barely gets a like?
Spoiler: it’s not just the content — it’s the timing.

Your audience’s attention follows a rhythm. When you post in sync with it, engagement takes off.
That’s where ’s Best Time to Post comes in: a smarter, data-driven way to find your audience’s sweet spot for visibility and engagement.

What is “Best Time to Post”?

Your Best Time to Post (BTTP) is the local hour when your followers are most active,  and most likely to engage with your content.

With , you don’t have to take a random stab at your BTTP (or Google “best time to post on Instagram”—it’s automatically calculated for you using real performance data from your own posts and audience. Think of it as your personal posting schedule, backed by science.

Available on Starter, Growth, Scale, and Enterprise plans — auto-enabled if your profile is eligible.

How we find your Best Time to Post

’s model looks at millions of data points across three main areas to find the times that really matter:

1. Your post performance

We look at how your content performs over time — things like impressions, plays, and engagement rate — to identify when your audience tends to respond best.

2. Your Followers’ Activity

Using data like Online Followers Map, we build a 24-hour snapshot of when your followers are most active in your local time zone, factoring in your latitude and longitude so everything’s accurate to your exact location.

3. Platform and industry trends

Even if you’re newer to posting or don’t have tons of history yet, global data helps fill the gaps.
We analyze broader posting behavior across industries, so your BTTP combines what’s working for you with what’s trending across the platform.

Together, these layers form a weighted model that highlights the best local hours for you to post, whether you’re a small business, content creator, or enterprise team.

Why personalized timing matters

No two audiences scroll the same. Your followers might check their feeds at 8 a.m. on average, while someone else’s peak time is 9 p.m.

By personalizing your post timing around your data, you’re more likely to:

  • Get early engagement (which helps boost reach in the algorithm)

  • Consistently appear when followers are online

  • Keep engagement steady, even as your audience evolves

This means recommendations that get smarter every time you post. The more data collects, the more precise your suggested times become, and the better positioned you are to make an impact with your posted content.

Where to find Best Time to Post in

You’ll see your Best Times to Post highlighted right on your weekly Calendar view.

To check or refresh your BTTP:

  1. Open your calendar in . Ensure only Instagram is selected.

  2. Look for color shaded blocks on your calendar. Don’t see them? Move to the next step.

  3. Head to Calendar Settings (gear icon in the upper right hand corner) and select Refresh Best Times to Post if you want to update your recommendations.

  4. Pro tip: Use Quick Schedule to align your default slots with your top-performing BTTP windows.

Note: Your Instagram profile must be a Business or Creator account to pull insights.

How to use Best Time to Post strategically

Your BTTP is more than a data point: it’s your engagement edge. Here’s how to make it work harder for you:

  • Plan around your peak hours: Schedule Reels, carousels, or key campaign posts during your top BTTP windows for maximum visibility.

  • Combine with Smart Scheduling: Let automatically stack your best times for the week so you can focus on content, not clocks.

  • Refresh regularly: Engagement habits shift — revisiting your BTTP every few weeks keeps you aligned.

Stay consistent: Posting around your best times creates predictable touchpoints with your audience (and keeps you in their feeds).

‘s Best Time to Post science in action

Behind the scenes, our data science team built and validated the BTTP model using millions of posts.
Here’s what we found:

  • Posts scheduled within ±1 hour of BTTP saw 30–50% more engagement.

  • Engagement drops sharply 2–3 hours after your optimal window.

  • Carousels and Reels benefit the most from precise timing.

So yes — timing matters. But the real power lies in pairing timing with consistency and creativity.
Post at your best time, often.
