EA has announced the closures of a much-loved The Sims game after more than seven years.
The Sims franchise has been a huge success with millions of players across the world since bursting onto the scene way back in 2000.
In the age of smartphones, the gaming giant decided to release The Sims Mobile in March 2018.
This versions sticks to the popular format of building and developing homes and towns, with multiplayer and story elements thrown in too.
There are also special events – as well as the ability to buy items in-app.
The Sims Mobile has been downloaded more than 50 million times based on Google Play data for Android alone.

But sadly the title is closing down early next year – and fans will lose some features before that deadline, within a matter of hours.
The game will be removed from both Google Play Store and the iOS App Store later today, meaning anyone who hasn’t already got the game can’t download it.
Players can no longer purchase packs or spend real money within it either.
Then on January 6 all Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will be unlocked for every player for free to give everyone one last chance to experience the game in full.
Finally, the curtain will fall on January 20 when the servers will shut down and The Sims Mobile won’t be playable at all.
“We want to say thank you,” EA said.
“The Sims Mobile and The Sims community as a whole are full of creativity, kindness, and imagination.
“You’ve amazed us with your stories, builds, and Sims.
“We’re proud to have shared this journey with you, and as a token of our appreciation, we’ve prepared a few surprises as we head into TSM’s final chapter.”
Several events will still run from now until closure, including Christmas and New Years treats.
Although the mobile game is going, the main Sims 4 title is still going strong and will remain as normal.
Project Rene Rumours
The move may not come as a surprise to fans with talk of a secret “Project Rene” as the next big possible release for The Sims.
Although EA has spoken publicly about its existence, little is currently known about Project Rene.

Small private testing started way back in 2022 but there’s been few updates about where the next iteration stands.
What we do know is it’s not The Sims 5 – instead it will be a new multiplayer online spin-off, with compatibility across various platforms.
