Two years ago, in May 2023, the Finnish manufacturer Suunto had set the bar very high with his vertical model. Last year, he proposed two other models, again excellent: the breed and breed S. In 2025, Suunto completed his new generation of watches with a resolutely accessible entry -level model: the Suunto Run.

Offered at only 249 euros, this connected watch is aimed above all for beginner or regular runners looking for a reliable, well -equipped and simple to handle tool. But it can also be fully suitable for more intensive athletes (traillers for example), who are looking for an excellent value for money. We brought it for fifteen days. Here is our verdict.

A discreet design… downright vitamin

Light (36 grams with its nylon bracelet), compact, with a 46 mm format which remains reasonable even for fine wrists, the Suunto Run assumes a sober aesthetic. Its robust plastic frame (reinforced fiberglass polyamide) is underlined by a stainless steel bezel. It is waterproof to 50 meters.

Some may find its slightly shy design in the face of the brand’s more assertive models, but Suunto offers, alongside fairly discreet options and passout, vitamin colors that give spice and a personality to the watch. Especially since the chassis is associated with a nice very comfortable Velcro bracelet (and adjustable to the millimeter). It also has a well thought out ergonomics (three buttons including a customizable central wheel for left -handers, it’s smart).

An amoled screen that sets your eyes off

This is the big highlight of this Sunto Run. At this Price, offering an amoled slab of 1.32 ” in 466 X 466 pixels, it is quite unexpected. The definition is excellent, the contrasts are there, and the readability in full sun has never disappointed us during our different outings. The Always On Display, permanent screen display, is offered, but beware of the battery. We preferred to opt for a screen that only comes on when we turn our wrist to look at the watch.

Small flat to report: for the wallpaper of the watch, the dials remain few and the personalization still shy. This is a point of improvement for the brand in the future, even if it remains a detail that is not annoying on a daily basis.

A more fluid interface, a real progression

Suunto took advantage of the launch of this new watch to rework sound. Closer to what its competitor Garmin offers, it becomes more logical, more fluid too … even if everything is not yet perfect. Some actions lack responsiveness, some validations require two clicks. Nothing unacceptable, but it remains to be noted.

Activity screens are now scrolling vertically, health widgets are enriched, and navigation in the menus is gaining intuitiveness. Special mention for new features such as hydration reminders, marathon mode or recovery heart rate. So many new indicators that can be useful for some.

Well thought out sporting functions

With 34 sports profiles (race, bicycle, swimming, yoga, muscular …), the Suunto Run covers the essential … and goes far beyond what its name suggests. Indeed, it is not dedicated only to running on bitumen. Its many functions make it a real multi -activity sports watch. Nevertheless, it should be noted the absence of cartography, logical at this price, but navigation “thread of Ariane” is there to help out. If it is not really cut to go on an adventure on trails far from everything, it can nevertheless meet present in most of the needs for your outdoor and indoor activities. Finally, integration with the Suunto app remains a safe bet: simple, efficient, clear. In our eyes, it is a reference on the market.

On the geolocation side, the double frequency GNSS chip provides good quality GPS precision, even in dense urban environments. The comparative tests carried out with the vertical and the Garmin Fenix 8 show minimal differences. The heart rate sensor is doing well, except in split where it sometimes drifts. It would be better to equip themselves with a thoracic heart sensor or to put in the arm but, it is understandable. Finally, we note the very useful presence of a recovery index to assess its global form by integrating sleep and activities. The Suunto Race also displays the training load.

Correct autonomy (but not spectacular)

Suunto announces up to 12 days in daily use and 20 hours in Multiband GNSS mode. During our tests, we were below these indications. We were rather around 7-8 days in our use and without activating the Always On screen. However, this remains very honest given the size of the watch and the quality of the screen. With regular sports sessions and activated notifications (alerts of the remote smartphone, you will have to recharge it every 3 to 4 days. For a competition, it is announced with 20 hours of autonomy in performance mode and 40 hours in energy saving. Good surprise: the load cable has been redesigned (USB-C) and is practical with small magnets that guide its placement.

In terms of advanced functions, the Suunto Run is barely minimum. No NFC, no payment, no calls, no integrated agenda. But storable music (4 GB) for even unreasonable reading and well -managed notifications. It’s little? For the price of the watch, less than 250 euros, it is already honorable.
