Garmin muscle its range from a new, more ambitious model. Venu X1, announced at € 799, marks a significant rise for this family of connected watches often positioned between sport and “lifestyle”. Exit the usual round housing: The X1 opts for a square format of 2 inch, the largest screen ever offered by Garmin. It is an AMOLED protected by a scratch -resistant sapphire glass, embedded in a titanium box on the also metallic back.
A more square design, a higher -end positioning
The set displays a contained thickness (8 mm) and is accompanied by a 24 mm nylon bracelet to gain lightness. This new design immediately evokes that of the Apple Watch Ultra, but for 100 € cheaper (ultra starts at € 899).

In addition to its look, the Venu X1 has a speaker and a microphone to answer calls or use voice commands. Garmin also promises certain smartphone -free interactions, such as launching a sports session or scheduling a timer. An LED lamp is also present, as on the brand’s outdoor watches, although the X1 is not explicitly positioned in this segment.
On the features side, the watch keeps Garmin’s sporting DNA with more than 100 activity profiles, an optical cardiac frequency sensor (the Elevate V5 version), a pulse oximeter, as well as access to color mapping – a rarity for an coming. Hiking or golf lovers will be able to download routes or subscribe to the Outdoor Maps+ service to access specialized cards.
But despite its high Price, certain technical elements remain behind compared to the most robust models of the brand. No double frequency GPS, no electrocardiogram or advanced monitoring of the variability of the heart rate. The autonomy is also revised downwards: 2 days with the screen still on, up to 8 days with more moderate use, where the Fenix 8 in Amoled reaches 7 days under the same conditions.
In short, the Venu X1 sacrifices a little endurance for a more urban style and a visually attractive interface. It is clear to those who want a high -performance sporting watch … without sacrificing the look and the “smart” features of everyday life. Venu X1 will be available from June 18, in two colors: black and dark green.
