After a Vaiana 2 half-heartedly, Disney is preparing to invade cinemas with live action on the line. Will spectators be won over by this annoying recipe? Nothing is less certain. The ball of adaptations will begin in the coming weeks with the release of Mufasa : The Roi Lion scheduled for December 18. This prequel dedicated to Simba’s father will be able to count on the popularity of the franchise to get by. The Lion King remake was a real hit in 2019 and Disney intends to reproduce this phenomenon. Unfortunately, the abuse of live action in the coming months risks angering the public.
Barely three months after Mufasa, it will be the turn of Snow White to invite himself onto the big screen and the challenge promises to be difficult. The project has been subject to controversy since its announcement in 2016 and has already alienated spectators on numerous occasions. Whether it’s the casting, the visuals or even the very interest of such an adaptation: this live action is divisive. After numerous postponements, This strange version of Snow White will enter French cinemas on March 19. Disney is already preparing the ground and has just released a trailer which confirms many concerns.

The original, but less good
Once again, the blatant lack of color and life is felt. Will the studio eventually understand that dark environments are not synonymous with a more realistic and mature adaptation? Rachel Zegler seems to be doing her best as the princess, but it’s impossible to stay serious when she faces the 7 nightmarish dwarves. There are some things that aren’t made for live action and these characters are one of them. These few excerpts also do not bode well for Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen.
This production exudes a lack of creativity and could well end up destroying the reputation of live action. Only two months later, Disney will again reproduce the experience with the adaptation of Lilo and Stitch. The overflow is already being felt and the studio risks losing its fingers. Now, all that remains is to hope that the entertainment giant will be able to learn the right lessons from the public’s reactions. But with other projects of the type already in development, the battle seems lost in advance. As a reminder, Dreamworks is preparing to follow the same path with its live action Dragons.
