Welcome one, welcome all, to the results announcement of the Web3 Development Writing Contest presented by Getblock and HackerNoon!

The contest was launched to incentivize necessary discourse around the gap between Web3’s much-talked-about potential and its current reality. The submission window opened on March 17, 2025, to writers, developers, and Web3 faithful alike, welcoming essays on the foundations of Web3 development—and the structures built on it—for a shot at up to $5,000, awarded as follows:

Category

Prize

Best #blockchain-api story

$2,500

Best #dApp-development story

$1,500

Best #getblock-tutorial story

$1,000

Over the course of three months, and across all categories, the contest spotlighted bold ideas, thoughtful research, and brilliant storytelling. Published stories during that period racked up over 75,000 views and kept readers glued to their screens for more than 48 hours.

After the submission window closed, 15 finalists were painstakingly selected from all valid entries submitted before the contest’s June 17, 2025, deadline.

Go give them a read, right here, on HackerNoon!

Now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

How I Use GetBlock API For Onchain Data Analysis by @ayinketh is the top-voted #getblock-tutorial story.

Onchain data analysis is a goldmine for understanding what is really going on in a blockchain network (Onchain) As a DeFi trader (and researcher), I use onchain data to spot trends that indicate shifts in market sentiment and liquidity movement on any blockchain. As developers who understand network behaviour, using GetBlock API provides easy access to blockchain data via APIs, eliminating the need to run your own node.
