Max, or HBO Max (we no longer know how to call it), the Warner Bros. streaming platform, now offers Harry Potter at the school of wizards In two versions: the classic, well known to fans, and an enriched version called “Magical Movie Mode”. The latter makes it possible to watch the film with a whole bonus that appears on the screen throughout the story: comments by director Chris Columbus, filming anecdotes, deleted scenes, winks and other unusual info.
A “pop-up” version for fans
This is not a simple mode to activate in the settings: the “Magical Movie Mode” is a full -fledged title in the Max catalog. It is therefore necessary to select the right version before starting the reading. Warner Bros. had already offered this special edition for the film’s 20th anniversary, in 2021, with a DVD and Blu-ray release.
Released in 2001, the film adapts Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonethe first novel by JK Rowling which was not that problematic person that she has unfortunately become since. He recounts the discovery of the magical world by Harry, interpreted by a very young Daniel Radcliffe, and his first year at Hogwarts, the school of wizards. It is also an opportunity for the young hero to learn the truth about the death of his parents and to forge links with his lifelong companions, Hermione and Ron.
What some people may know is that Steven Spielberg had been approached to make the film, before declining. The project was finally entrusted to Chris Columbus, known for Mom, I missed the plane. A choice that has durably shaped aesthetics and the tone of the saga.
For lovers of physical supports, “Magical Movie Mode” also exists in disc version, integrated into recent editions of the film. But for an immediate viewing, Max remains the only online platform where to discover this special version.
No new cinema adaptation is planned for the moment. On the other hand, a series project is in development at Max. Little information has filtered, except that the main roles were allocated and the broadcast could start in 2026 or 2027. This reboot should offer a more faithful version to the novels, with an episode by almost chapter.
