The third round of the UK-wide engineering biotech accelerator programme from startup incubator Science Creates and government-run tech financier UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has launched.

The programme provides equity-free support for early-stage bioengineering projects, with participants receiving payment throughout the run to focus on their ventures.

The accelerator, funded by the Technology Missions Fund, offers training and workshops, mentorship and access to a network of venture capital investors.

The third iteration of the programme, which lasts nine weeks, will focus on technology in biomedicine, environmental solutions, food systems and clean growth and will take place in Science Creates Bristol-based incubator in October.

The Science Creates Accelerator was instrumental in helping me secure investment for our company,” said Dr Sahan Liyanagedera, co-founder and chief technology officer at BioPhoundry, a former graduate of the programme.

“The high quality workshops, exceptional pool of experienced delivery partners and the amazing programme team create the perfect environment for aspirational founders to thrive!”

The previous iteration of the Science Creates biotech accelerator launched in 2024.

Founded in 2015, Science Creates works with deep tech founders and scientists to grow their businesses, offering lab space, training, networking and investment opportunities.
