The AirPods 4 feature an opn-ear design, so they’re best for people who don’t like the feel of wireless earbuds poking around in their ear. The design also allows for you to be aware of what’s around you, so you can be in tune with your surroundings as well as the audio you’re listening to.

We haven’t reviewed this particularly model of the AirPods 4, as we had a look at the AirPods 4 with ANC, but aside from the noise-cancellation, most of the same features carry over with this model.
The design is an IP54 rating which protects it against splashes of water and any dust, though given the loose fit of the design, this aren’t a true wireless pair we’d recommend if you’re want headphones to use at the gym. These are much more for everyday use.
Battery life is a decent five hours per charge, with 30 hours in total so you won’t have to recharge these headphones too often.
Given it’s Apple, they integrate seamlessly within the Apple ecosystem. You can connect to multiple devices at the same time, call up Siri to ask the digital assistant a question; and they also come with personalised spatial audio when you’re listening to music and films in Dolby Atmos.
At £99, the AirPods 4 are the cheapest headphones that Apple sell. If you’re buying them for yourself or as a present for someone else, now is the time act when there are this affordable.
