If you’ve picked up an iPhone Air, chances are you did it for one reason: it’s absurdly thin.

That also makes finding a decent battery pack trickier than usual, as most MagSafe options either don’t fit quite right or add more bulk than you’d like. A new magnetic power bank called the Ozone 3K might finally solve that problem.

The headline feature here is thickness – or lack of it. At just 4.98mm, the Ozone 3K is slimmer than Apple’s own iPhone Air MagSafe Battery pack and even thinner than the phone itself. The company behind it, Kopplen, claims it’s the world’s thinnest magnetic power bank. That’s hard to verify, but it’s certainly among the sleekest we’ve seen.

There’s a trade-off, of course. To stay that thin, the Ozone 3K packs a 3,000mAh battery, which Kopplen says delivers around 62% charge to an iPhone Air. That won’t get you through a full extra day, but it could be enough to take the edge off battery anxiety without ruining the phone’s ultra-slim profile.

If that sounds a bit limiting, there’s also an Ozone 5K model. It’s thicker at 6.49mm, but still relatively slim, and offers enough capacity to fully recharge the iPhone Air once.

Despite the focus on Apple’s thinnest iPhone, both Ozone battery packs work with other iPhones and Qi2-compatible Android phones as well. Charging speeds depend on the device: Android users can get up to 15W, while iPhones are capped at 7.5W, which is standard for non-Apple MagSafe accessories.

Weight is another plus. The Ozone 3K tips the scales at just 77g, with the 5K coming in at 97g, making it easy to keep attached without noticeably changing how the phone feels in the hand.

Pricing is currently set at $44.99 (around £35 / AU$65) for early backers via Kickstarter, rising to $69.99 at full retail. Interestingly, that price applies to both models. Just bear in mind that, as with any crowdfunding campaign, there’s always some risk involved.

Still, for iPhone Air owners who want extra power without compromising on thinness, the Ozone 3K looks like one of the most compelling options yet.
