I might be someone who firmly follows an “everything in its place” mantra at home, but when it comes to travel that all seems to go out the window. My backpack is usually a tangle of cables, battery banks and loose tech, which can make finding a particular bit of kit a chore – and usually means giving up precious leg room on flights in order to keep everything close. Now that I’ve been on a few trips with Orbitkey’s 2-in-1 Tech Accessory Pouch, though, I’ve managed to tame my travel bag from a gadget black hole to an organised oasis of calm.

It has the handful of internal pockets you’d expect from any tech pouch, which have proved ideal for stowing a multitude of USB-C cables, travel adapters, power banks and portable SSDs. But there’s also a neat foldable divider which can make room for larger items like a laptop charger when needed.

There’s a cable channel running from the main compartment to a smaller outer pocket, so you can charge a phone without having to jam it in with all your other gear and risk scratching the screen. A couple of pen/stylus slots and floating mesh pockets keep smaller loose items locked down.

The 2-in-1 part refers to the smaller desk pouch, which normally lives in one half of the main compartment but can be removed for quick access. While I’ve not been able to get it to stand up as easily as the “desk pouch” name suggests I’ve found especially useful for planes: it’s slim enough to slide into a seat pocket but still so roomy it can hold a bunch of cables, flash drives, wireless earphones and my wireless travel mouse.

A fold-down panel lets you see what’s stashed at a glance, and it has its own stretchy pockets for even more organisation.

You can get one in Terracotta, Lilac, Rose, Olive, Plum, Graphite or Black colours; my graphite review unit looks quite unassuming, and I like that Orbitkey hasn’t gone wild with the branding. The grab handles around the outside of the main bag are convenient no matter how you want to lug it around.

The whole thing is made from stain- and water-resistant fabrics produced from recycled PET plastic, while the inner linings are recycled polyester. It has held up well after a handful of short haul work trips, with no fraying or loose elastic on the interior pockets.

The Orbitkey 2-in-1 Tech Accessory Pouch is available direct from Orbitkey right now, for $70/£60.
