With iOS 18.2, the Apple brand has just presented new features for taking voice notes. With the arrival of a new button within the “Dictaphone” application on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max only, it will be possible to dissociate the audio tracks between the sound coming from your phone and that of your environment.
Sound: the new feature of the iPhone 16 Pro
Concretely, musicians will be able to record their voice on an instrumental being played by the iPhone. The microphone will pick up all the frequencies, but the power of the A18 Pro chip would be able to “eliminate” the sounds coming from the phone.
Apple explains that this advanced sound processing is part of a set of features around audio track management. During the keynote presentation of the new iPhones, the Apple brand took the time to explain these options, including one allowing you to play with audio tracks in post-production. It is also possible to modify the way in which the sound will be captured when taking a video (with a microphone focusing on the voice, forgetting the ambient sound for example).
How to use the new “Dictaphone” option
Concretely for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max users, this new functionality materializes by the arrival of a “+” button within the “Dictaphone” application. By pressing it, the iPhone will create a new audio track, while continuing to play your music. The Cupertino company explains that it is always possible to send the two linked tracks in Logic Pro and that the brand’s software will sort it out on its own.
