When it comes to keeping tabs on your fitness, a set of scales is a pretty familiar place to start. These days, they don’t just tell you your weight. I’ve used some of the best scales which show me my body fat percentage, heart rate, and even nerve health. Whether you’re new to pounding the pavement or an ex-Muscle Beach regular, tracking your stats provides some valuable data.

Withings is no stranger to connected scales, but Body Scan 2 is a huge leap. It measures over 60 biomarkers, including things I didn’t even realise a scale could measure. The Body Scan 2 can detect hypertension, cellular health, and your entire metabolic existence after stepping on it for just 90 seconds. I’ve never seen a set of scales offer this much health data for such little effort. Or any health device, for that matter.

The magic (or slightly unnerving part, depending on your comfort level with knowing too much about your own biology) lies in the blend of medical-grade tech baked into the scale’s glass frame. ICG (impedance cardiography), ECG (echocardiography), PWV (pulse wave velocity), and BIS (bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy) are all included – if it has a terrifying acronym, chances are this scale uses it.

It’s a 90-second multimodal longevity assessment every time you weigh in, turning the ritual of measuring your weight into a full-body diagnostic sweep. It checks your heart’s ability to pump blood efficiently, maps arterial stiffness, peeks at your metabolic efficiency at the cellular level, and even flags early signs of glycemic dysregulation — all while you’re probably still bleary-eyed.

One of the most intriguing features here is the Health Trajectory score. It’s essentially a rolling report card on how well (or not) your body’s doing, designed to motivate you with a peek at how your health is shaping up. It’s not just showing you what’s wrong, it’s showing you what’s fixable. And all this is powered by real-world data collected from the broader Withings ecosystem, offering personal baselines and alerts when things start drifting off course.

Design-wise, it’s unapologetically premium. A tempered-glass platform hides eight embedded electrodes, while a retractable handle adds another four. The handle’s got a high-res colour display – no more squinting at tiny numbers on the platform – and two buttons that let you respond to prompts for lifestyle coaching. It syncs everything seamlessly to the Withings app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and the battery lasts up to 15 months, so you’re not charging the thing every week.

Any time a company starts throwing around phrases like “clinical-grade” you’d be right to ask about data protection. Fortunately, Withings is ticking all the boxes here: GDPR and HIPAA compliance, ISO certifications. It’s even pending FDA clearance for a few of the fancier metrics, so you know each measurement is accurate.

The Withings Body Scan 2 was unveiled at CES 2026 and is expected to launch in the spring. It’ll set you back $600/£450/€500, and you’ll be able to pick it up directly from Withings, Amazon, and other retailers.
