TikTok Shop is set to officially enter the Mexican market on Jan. 13, 2025, having already invited merchant registrations and influencer applications, according to Chinese media outlet Ebrun. The platform plans to begin influencer-driven sales in early February, with user purchases expected to go live mid-month. The platform will launch with a three purchases at half-price promotion for new users, while merchants will be offered limited-time incentives, including commission-free and shipping-free sales. TikTok Shop, TikTok’s e-commerce initiative, is already available in the US, six Southeast Asian countries, and parts of Europe, with the US and Southeast Asia its largest markets. Expanding into Mexico marks a significant step in TikTok Shop’s Latin American growth strategy and is seen as a critical move by ByteDance to counter pressure from the US government amid the ongoing wrangle over the country’s sell-or-ban legislation.
