If you use TikTok in Spain, you will soon be able to do more than just slide through users’ videos and publish your own content. The Chinese social network is preparing to launch TikTok Shopa service that will allow you to purchase items directly from the application. Or at least that is the information we receive from the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
The Hong Kong media points out that the launch of the latest development on the platform is scheduled for December, so they could arrive as soon as in the next few days. This is a period of time that can be favorable to deploy a new commercial function mainly due to the boost in sales that usually arrives during Christmas in the country.
A new competitor for Amazon?
While TikTok Shop will allow users of the social network to purchase products while scrolling through videos, it will operate slightly differently than alternatives such as Amazon, Temu and AliExpress. Instead of browsing a catalog with a search box, different categories and product pages, we will do it through videos from creators.
So there will be the possibility of purchasing some of the products that will appear in the videos. Content creators, for their part, will be able receive a commission for sales made through their videos. Those who wish to sell products through TikTok will be able to start doing so soon by registering in the platform’s Seller Center.
The TikTok team has been coordinating the launch of the new service with a select group of sellers in Spain. The TikTok Shop website for sellers says that only those with an invitation can sign up. This, however, should change soon. TikTok has partnered with payments firm Stripe and returns firm Rever.

We have to wait to see how well TikTok Shop will work in Spain. This alternative can offer benefits not only for users, but also for content creators and marketers. According to an Earnest Analytics study published in April, cheap fashion and beauty items have been killing it on the US version of TikTok Shop.
