The Ulefone Note 16 Pro and Oukitel WP28 phones must be withdrawn from the French market, announces the National Frequencies Agency. The reason? These two smartphones emit too many waves and this can have harmful consequences on the health of users.
Marketed by Tesskoni Tech and Bogdan Constantin Ecobici, the two devices are not the known in France. They are nevertheless visible at large sellers and always available for sale at the time of its lines. Anfr’s decision should not experience the same impact as the affair of the iPhone 12 in 2023, but the information remains important.
What’s going on with these two smartphones?
During its controls, the ANFR found that the two smartphones exceed the limit of 4 W/kg for the DAS “member”. Recall that the DAS measures the amount of electromagnetic energy absorbed by the human body when using a device. It is essential to respect certain limits to protect the health of users and the European limit of “member” DAS for a mobile phone is 4 W/kg. Note that there is also a DAS measurement for the “head” and the “trunk”, with a limit fixed at 2 W/kg.
The Ulefone Note 16 Pro was measured at 4.78 W/kg while the Oukital WP28 was flashed at 4.06 W/KG, more than the limit of the “member” of 4 W/kg. Faced with these overruns, the ANFR initially put the two manufacturers responsible for marketing these phones to take corrective measures. In the absence of measures taken by Tesskoni Tech and Bogdan Constantin Ecobici, the agency has made administrative decisions to order the withdrawal and recall of the models concerned.
What should I do if I have one of these smartphones?
Distributors are required, in application of article R. 20-13-1 of the CPCE, to organize the withdrawal and recall of the phones. If you have a Ulefone Note 16 Pro or an Oukitel WP28, the ANFR invites you to refer your phone to its point of sale.
The Ulefone Note 16 Pro is an entry -level smartphone under Android, sold around 100 euros. It has a modest technical sheet. The Oukitel WP28, offered at less than 200 euros, enters the category of affordable hardened smartphones. It also has a modest configuration.
