International Motors parent company Traton Group will build vehicle software platforms with Mountain View, California with Software Group Headquarters Applied Intuition, the companies said 17 March.
Applied intuition and traton have worked in the past five years on advanced driver systems and automated driving development tools for international and sister companies Scania, MAN and Volkswagen Truck & Bus.
Traton, based in Munich, said that the aim of the newest partnership is to deliver full software -defined vehicle options for the vehicles of the truck and bus maker.

“The products of the Traton Group are increasingly being powered by software,” said Niklas Klingenberg, the member of the Traton Council, responsible for research and development. “We have always had strong software competencies in -house, but it is important for us to collaborate with a capable software partner to supplement our possibilities. Applied intuition brings expertise in modern vehicle platforms, developer tools and a laser focus on the implementation speed that perfectly matches our goals.”
Traton is only the latest truck maker who reveals plans for a software -defined vehicle, in which Volvo Group and Daimler Truck Unveil plans unveiling in May 2024 to jointly develop a central operational platform for the software.
The two colleagues from Traton have concluded a binding agreement on the development of the standardized truck control system in October. The JV will be located in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Daimler and Volvo also worked together to build fuel cells for future commercial vehicles for electrical hydrogen cells in the cell -centered company. And the two companies joined forces to build public charging stations for commercial vehicles in Europe via the Milence JV, and that partnership also included Traton.
The Traton deal with applied intuition was announced almost 12 months until the day after Navistar-as International was known until September man and Scania said they would collaborate with another company, Plus, to develop autonomous class 8 trucks in Silicon Valley.
In October, Plus said that the partnership on the road was testing in Texas and Sweden from trucks that are equipped with his SuperDrive autonomous driving system. Fleet pilots will start later in 2025 prior to a planned commercial launch in 2027. Tests without drivers can start in 2025 or 2026, said CEO David Liu in October.
Navistar previously worked with one -off autonomous truck pioneer Tusimple. In July 2020, the companies said they expected the production of self -driving trucks in 2024. The deal was canceled in December 2022.
