UBISOFT has spoken out about the future of Rainbow Six Siege after a major hack forced bosses to shut the game’s servers down.
Cyber crooks managed to send players billions of in-game credits and unlocked mega rare skins in an attack over the weekend.
They were also able to ban and unban users, as well as displaying fake ban messages.
Rainbow Six Siege has some 70million registered players across all platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox.
Video game publisher Ubisoft decided to shut down servers on Saturday while they tried to fix the problem.
And two days later it appears things are back on track.
The firm started with a soft relaunch for a small number of players to start.
Now it’s relaunching for everyone.
However, there may be disruption to your inventory.
“Our live tests are now complete and we are opening the game to all players,” Ubisoft said on the Rainbow Six Siege X account.
“Please note that you may experience a queue when connecting, as our services ramp up.
“Players who did not log in between December 27th 10:49 UTC and December 29th should see no changes to their inventory.
“For those that did connect after December 27th 10:49 UTC: A small percentage of players may temporarily lose access to some owned items.
“Investigations and corrections will continue over the next two weeks.”
Ubisoft also announced that the Marketplace will remain closed “until further notice as investigations continue”.
Earlier, the company told players that they won’t be banned for spending any credits they received as a result of the hack – but all transactions that occurred since 11am UTC on December 27 will be rolled back.
It’s not yet clear who was responsible for the hack.
