Canonical just announced the release of Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS as the newest point release for this long-term support (LTS) operating system across desktop, server, and cloud.
The Ubuntu LTS point releases are predominantly for bundling up all of the security/bug fix stable release updates (SRUs) that have been shipped down already to Ubuntu LTS users. The new point release thus makes it more convenient for quickly and deploying new Ubuntu LTS systems with the stable updates over the past several months already included.
The other highlight of the Ubuntu LTS point releases namely for desktop/laptop users is having a newer hardware enablement (HWE) kernel. For those opting to use Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the HWE stack, Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS pulls in the Linux 6.14 based kernel as shipped by Ubuntu 25.04. So for those needing newer hardware driver support or other new kernel features beyond Linux 6.11 as their prior HWE kernel, Linux 6.14 is now officially available as the HWE option on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Plus the updated Mesa and other select HWE backports.
