With its 1.32 meters high and 35 kilos, the G1 does not look like at first glance. But behind this compact template, he hides performances which make it a serious competitor on the market of humanoid robots. Foldable until reaching dimensions of 68.6 X 45 x 30 cm, it is transported and stored without difficulty – practical for a robot which still costs $ 16,000.
A small format full of technologies
On the technology side, the G1 is well equipped. It has a 3D Lidar, a realsense camera and noise reduction microphones. Result: he can respond to vocal orders while mapping his environment. Fed by a battery of 9,000 mAh, it offers two hours of autonomy, with the possibility of quickly replacing the battery for longer sessions.

But what impresses the most is its mobility. It can walk at 2 m/s (about 7 km/h), climb stairs, run or even chain complex movements such as dances and stretching karate. And so as not to spoil anything, he even set a record last year: a long jump of 1.4 meters from a standing position.
Originally, the G1 was a prototype sold $ 90,000. Today, Unitree has reviewed it to reduce its costs while improving its capacities. Result: a Price divided by more than five. It is a clear strategy on the part of Chinese society: to make humanoid robotics more affordable, while standing in giants like Boston Dynamics or Tesla.
Unitree goes even further with a gesture towards developers and researchers. The company has published an open source data set, registered thanks to Motion Capture technologies. This allows its robots, like the G1, to reproduce more realistic movements, such as walking or dancing naturally. This database can be downloaded for free and gives the opportunity of new experiments to the general public as well as for professionals.
