‘Samsung Galaxy S25 gets background updates’
In 2016, Google made ‘seamless updates’ possible. In short, you download new software to a separate partition of the storage space in your smartphone. This is useful, because you can continue to use your device during the installation. You only have to wait a little while if you restart it to use the updates.
Samsung is one of the few Android manufacturers that has not yet widely embraced this process. Earlier this year, the Galaxy A55 was the first smartphone from the Korean company that does have this option. For example, this is not possible with the current Galaxy S24.
According to tasty Chun Bhai the Galaxy 25 devices will be the first Samsung flagships to support these so-called background updates. This would make updating the software a lot smoother.
Installing updates on a separate partition has more advantages than just speed. If something unexpectedly goes wrong, it is much easier to roll back to the previous version of the software. In short, it is high time that Samsung embraces this method. It is not known why it took so long.
More about the Samsung Galaxy S25
In addition to background updates, the Samsung Galaxy S25 devices will of course receive more novelties. The screen edges become slightly thinner and the smartphones run on a faster chip. It is probably the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 or the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Little else changes in the design of the S25 and S25 Plus. Only the Galaxy S25 Ultra gets a new design with round corners, making it more similar to its cheaper brothers. The Ultra also gets an improved wide-angle lens.
Samsung will probably present the Galaxy S25 family in January next year.
