Attorneys for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) have been investigating since 2022 whether SAP illegally conspired with Carahsoft to fix prices for sales to the U.S. military and other government agencies, Bloomberg reported, citing federal court documents filed in Baltimore.
SAP said in an emailed statement that a civil investigation by the Department of Justice is underway. No further details were released.
“All we can say is that there has been a civil investigation by the DOJ, and SAP has cooperated with the investigation from the beginning,” the German company said. The company was not aware of any criminal investigation, it added.
Shares of SAP fell 3.3% to 200.1 euros on Wednesday.
According to Bloomberg, the civilian investigation is targeting companies that may have manipulated the market for more than $2 billion worth of SAP technology that the U.S. government has purchased since 2014.
An Accenture spokesperson told Bloomberg that the unit, Accenture Federal Services LLC, “is responding to an administrative subpoena and cooperating with the Department of Justice.” The company did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Carahsoft did not respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours. Bloomberg said it was not clear whether the search was related to SAP.
