Users beware: AI giant wants your data – UKTN

Earlier this week, Android users received an email from Google that its AI chatbot, Gemini, will interact – and track – user data regardless of whether the Gemini Apps Activity setting is switched on or off.

According to Google, “Gemini uses info from your devices” and “accesses certain system permissions and data, like call and message logs, contacts and screen content”.

This was launched as part of the Gemini’s new compatibility with WhatsApp as well as Android phones’ built in call and text services that came via an automatic update.

This comes at a time when consumers are more concerned than ever about companies using their private data, with a recent survey from KPMG finding that 86% of respondents felt data privacy is a growing concern for them….
