The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices forr nearly 700,000 Tesla vehicles about problems with the tire pressure monitoring system.

Jeep recall due to problem with rear view camera
Nearly 80,000 Jeep vehicles were recalled due to a software issue that could cause the rearview camera to not display.
Dealers will fix the software bug for free. According to the NHTSA, owner notification letters will be sent on January 21, 2025. Owners can contact FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403 and the FCA number for the recall is D5B.

Just over 2,000 Alfa Romeo vehicles were recalled due to a problem where the brake pedal could separate from the brake booster.
Repairs are carried out free of charge by dealers if a repair is required. Owner notification letters will be mailed on February 7, 2025. Owners can contact FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403, while the FCA number for this recall is E0B, according to the NHTSA.

Kia recall due to possible fuel leak
Kia is recalling 1,385 2025 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid vehicles.
The automaker said in the NHTSA recall report that during a crash, the steering rack could damage the fuel line, causing a fuel leak.
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of fire, the report said.
Kia dealers will install a cover around the fuel line for free, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 10, 2025. Owners can contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC328.

General Motors recall due to pedestrian noise malfunction
General Motors is recalling 7,606 of its 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV vehicles.
The automaker said the pedestrian warning sound system may have incorrect software and may not make sound, the NHTSA report said.
A vehicle that does not make noise when a pedestrian is near the vehicle can increase the risk of injury, the report said.
As such, these vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 141, “Minimum Noise Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.”
To resolve the issue, dealers will update the software in the body control modules for free, the report said. The recall letters are expected to be delivered on January 27, 2025. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM’s number for this recall is N242479760.

Tesla recall due to defective tire pressure monitoring system
Tesla is recalling 694,304 of its vehicles.
In the NHTSA report, the auto company said the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light may not stay on between driving cycles and fail to warn the driver of low tire pressure.
Driving with under-inflated tires increases the risk of an accident, the report said.
The report says these vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.”
Tesla has released a free over-the-air software update, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent before February 15, 2025. Owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-00-018.

Prinx Chengshan Tire North America is recalling tires due to lack of traction on snow
A California-based tire company has recalled more than 540,000 replacement tires incorrectly labeled as snow traction products, according to the NHTSA recall.
In the report, Prinx Chengshan Tire North America Inc. issued a recall for 541,632 tires from both Fortune Tormenta and Prinx HiCountry.
The tires are labeled as winter tires but lack “sufficient traction to perform in all snow conditions,” according to the NHTSA, and tires that do not have proper traction in snow can increase the risk of a crash.
The tire manufacturer said a fix is currently being worked on, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent before February 1, 2025. Owners can contact PCTNA Customer Service at 1-310-205-8355 x 109.

Nuna Baby Essentials is recalling RAVA car seats
Nuna Baby Essentials has issued a voluntary recall for 608,786 of its RAVA child safety seats with a plastic harness adjustment knob, according to the NHTSA recall report.
Debris could get into the front harness adjuster of the recalled car seats and cause the mechanism to malfunction, the recall report said. According to the report, this can result in a loose harness.
If a child is placed in the recalled car seat, the harness may not properly restrain the child and increase the risk of a crash, the report said.
The recalled car seats were manufactured between July 16, 2016 and October 25, 2023, the recall report said.
