Chinese display panel maker Visionox announced that the main building of its 8.6-generation AMOLED production line, built with Hefei province’s investment platform under joint venture Hefei Guoxian Technology, has been topped out. This marks the world’s first AMOLED line using FMM-free ViP (Fine Metal Mask-free Visionox Invention Pixelization) technology. The RMB 55 billion ($7.7 billion) project has a designed capacity of 32,000 glass substrates (2290 mm × 2620 mm) per month. Developed in-house, ViP uses semiconductor photolithography for AMOLED pixel fabrication, eliminating traditional FMM limits and enabling independent pixels, high precision, and high yield. This boosts cutting efficiency and cost-effectiveness, targeting premium medium-to-large display markets such as tablets, laptops, and automotive. [Icsmart, in Chinese]
