Big changes are coming to the streaming landscape, as in 2026, Disney+ and Hulu will be combined into a single app. Until then, Disney has the ultra-popular Marvel and Star Wars franchises, while Hulu brings the heat with tons of movies and shows from network partners.
Between the two services, they release a ton of content every week, so I’ll make it easy for you by picking three worthwhile new entries. The last full week in August has a documentary on one of the weirdest heists in history, a classic supernatural sitcom, and new Marvel animation. Ruby Red Handed: Stealing America’s Most Famous Pair of Shoes (Hulu, Aug. 26)
In 2005, one of the most ambitious movie memorabilia heists of all time happened, with a very unusual criminal behind it. One of the five pairs of ruby slippers from The Wizard of Earth was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The crook, an aged thief, had never even seen the movie. This new documentary dives deep into the theft and its aftermath.

Eyes Of Wakanda (Disney+, Aug. 27)
From executive producer Ryan Coogler, Eyes of Wakanda releases its entire season today. The animated show follows the Hatut Zaraze warriors, Wakandan special forces who travel the world to recapture vibranium artifacts from less than savory people, including a former general turned pirate who wants to establish his own hidden kingdom. It looks stylish and exciting, and we’re also promised the debut of Iron Fist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bewitched: The Complete Series (Hulu, Aug. 28)
The appeal of streaming video was, originally, that you’d have access to every piece of media from the dawn of movies onward in one convenient place. For some reason, most services have moved away from that, which is why we’re applauding Hulu’s oddball decision to upload the entirety of classic 60s sitcom Bewitched. When a witch marries a mortal and tries to live a normal life in the suburbs, kooky chaos ensues over eight seasons.
