A WALMART employee has discovered a major issue with its scan and go policy, which caused him to sit through a 30 minute delay.
The disgruntled associate pointed out the glaring issue with the system, which took so long it cost him multiple break times.

Walmart uses the scan and go system as a way to keep customers flowing in and out of the store quickly.
It allows shoppers to scan items as they go instead of doing it all at once at the end.
Scan and go is also designed to save the long lines that can build up when relying on a cashier to scan everyone out of the store.
But one employee pointed out a problem with it on social media.
They said that despite using the scan and go system, they were still forced to have someone else verify their items before paying.
The scan and go system is meant to give customers more control, but this seemingly strips it away.
The post on Reddit from Tuesday said: “So I’m an associate who takes advantage of the scan and go.
“Last three times I’ve used it I’ve had to wait and have a cashier come and verify my stuff…. Like wtf? Is this new?
“The cashiers at me store don’t know what to do and they have to use some app.
“Am I being flagged for shoplighting or wtf is going on?
“Because this has killed 2 of my breaks while working and over a 30 minute wait last night when I came to buy 1 item.”
THE COMMENTS
The comment section of the thread suggests that there is still a fair amount of confusion about how to use scan and go properly.
One of the top comments suggested that this is how scan and go is supposed to work, but in a much shorter capacity.
They said: “Self checkout host has to scan 3 items and then you’re good to pay, it takes like maybe 30 seconds, and all SCO associates should know how to do an item check, it’s one of the first things you learn as a front end associate.
“Simply click the alert, scan 3 barcodes (on items the user has in their cart) and they’re good. I have no idea why you’re having a 30 minute wait time.
“The self checkout host should be assisting you as soon as they get the alert.”
CONFIRMATION?
This was seemingly confirmed by another commenter, who actually described the process as “quick and easy.”
They added: “This sounds like a training issue specifically for said associates.
“I use scan and go every time I shop at my store and it’s Just a verification process that should be quick and easy.”
The comments suggest that this is simply a way to prevent shoplifting, and can even be random.

One person revealed that sometimes their cart won’t be checked, and sometimes it will.
This all suggests that the employees’ incident is an isolated incident that is not meant to happen.
If this is the case, it is unknown why it took so long.
The US Sun has reached out for clarification from Walmart about the three item check.
