HONDA motorists are warned to check their vehicles as more than 1.4 million cars are now under investigation over engine failures.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an extensive probe into the vehicles.

A letter dated to August 20 revealed that the regulator had received 414 reports of the issue.
This involved “connecting rod bearing failures” in the engines, which reportedly could lead to total engine failure.
The issue has been reported in Honda and Acura vehicles’ 3.5-liter V6 engine.
Investigations into the fault cover the 2018-2020 model year Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016-2020 Honda Pilot, 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, and 2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline.
The regulator previously investigated 1.4 million Honda vehicles on reports of serious engine issues in 2024.
This came after the manufacturer recalled 249,000 vehicles in November 2023.
The recall was related to a possible manufacturing defect in the engine crankshaft.
FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS
But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now wants to investigate the matter further.
The August 20 letter says another probe is being opened to give a more thorough evaluation of the potential fault.
The regulator added that a high volume of engine failure reports that weren’t covered in the prior investigation could post a safety risk.
Honda was contacted for comment by The Sun.
It comes after a rare malfunction left Chevrolet with little choice but to recall two Corvette models.
The high-performance Corvette Z06 and the newer ZR1 both reportedly suffer from a fuel-spillage issue.
Car giant General Motors said the problem is linked to malfunctioning filling station pumps and the design of the left-side radiator assembly.
This is specific to these particular models.
