On Twitter, a group of hackers started sharing their exploits and boast to have found a flaw in the Ricochet program, the anti-cheat system of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III et Call of Duty Warzone. The latter confirm that they can exploit a bug in the automated anti-cheat system of Call of Duty to get innocent players banned. All they have to do is send them a line of text in a direct message. So, a single message from a stranger would be enough to permanently deactivate your account.
Hackers confirm that they have already managed to ban thousands of players with this technique, including regular players and even well-known streamers who were banned while playing live. The hackers assured that the objective of its hacks was to punish players who cheat. Private messages were intended for players with file traces « trigger bot » in their game data. According to Ricochet, there is a good chance that the virus sent by the hackers confused the “trigger bot” command with “aim bot”. Which caused a lot more bans than expected.
Still according to Activision and Riocochet, the flaw exploited by hackers would have been corrected and online services Call of Duty Modern Warfare III et Call of Duty Warzone would be secure.
