Watch While You Can: Everything Leaving Netflix in September 2025

Netflix is the streaming service with the most original movies and shows, but to make room for the new stuff, some of the content you’ve always wanted to see—and have had on your to-watch list for months—must be removed from the service.

That’s because Netflix doesn’t own everything it streams. Its contracts with networks, production companies, and movie studios mean its programming constantly changes. So, each month, we bring you up to date with a list of what’s going to disappear. We’ll highlight our top choices for what you should watch in September before they’re gone. This month loses a must-watch sitcom, hot movies, and more. Below that, we’ll share the full list.

MacGruber (Sept. 1)

Although SNL spinoff MacGruber didn’t do that well at the box office, it’s become a bit of a cult hit over time, and packs plenty of laughs. Will Forte stars as the titular former Navy SEAL (and Green Beret, and Army Ranger), who is coaxed out of retirement to retrieve a stolen nuclear warhead. Do I even have to say hijinks ensue? They certainly do.

Mad Max: Fury Road (Sept. 9)

After decades in the wasteland, George Miller came back to the franchise with Mad Max: Fury Road and produced one of the best action movies of the 21st century. Relentless, thrilling, grimy, and bizarre, the tale of Max falling in with the War Boys of Immortan Joe, tapped for blood, and helping his concubines escape slavery doesn’t let up until the credits roll. It’s a stone-cold classic.

The Good Place: Seasons 1-4 (Sept. 26)

One of the absolute best comedies of the modern era, The Good Place starts with a simple premise: bad person Eleanor Shellstrop dies and winds up in Heaven. But she quickly learns that eternal bliss isn’t quite what it’s cracked up to be. Over the course of four seasons, this show examines questions of philosophy and spirituality that are as thought-provoking as they are funny.
