The 2025 MET Gala is over, and we are happy that the Nigerians who made Anna Wintour’s shindig didn’t disappoint. By not disappointing, I mean it was obvious that they made some effort to stay on this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” In no way do we mean there weren’t some looks that we saw and thought “na wa for you.”

However, there were also some blockbuster ‘fits from Burna Boy, Damson Idris and Ayo Edebiri.

Here is what the Nigerian stars wore to the 2025 MET Gala, our thoughts on their looks and their scores.

Damson Idris in Tommy Hilfiger

Thoughts: It’s very rare that Damson goes wrong on the red carpet. One of the best looks of the night.
Score:
9/10

Burna Boy in Ozwald Boateng

Thoughts: Burna looked really dapper. Unlike Damson, he brought some drama, which is always a delight at these things.
Score:
8/10

Ayo Edebiri in Ferragamo with Cartier jewels

Thoughts: Ayo Edebiri really surprised me with this look. I’ve secretly not understood the fuss about her fashion until now. I loved the beads.
Score:
7/10

Dynasty and Soull Ogun

Thoughts: It’s always a delight to see people who enjoy fashion. Doff my hat to these sisters.
Score: 6/10

Ayra Starr

Thoughts: What better way to get back at the haters than to attend the MET Gala? Ayra Starr kept it simple, and it works.
Score:
6/10

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in Prabal Gurung

Thoughts: I am not sure if this is on theme. It should take more than attaching neck ties to the skirt. But for my Odeluwa, I’ll let it pass.
Score:
5/10

Ego Nwodim

Thoughts: Very much on theme, and that necklace is gorgeous. A solid 5.
Score:
5/10

Shaboozey

Thoughts: I loved the beads and the crop jacket. Great look for Obinna.
Score:
5/10

Nnamdi Asomugha

Thoughts: The trousers just don’t seem to fit as they should. Otherwise, the fit would have worked.
Score:
4/10

Tems in Ozwald Boateng

Thoughts: Haba! This is not the look at all. A no no. I think it’s the fabric.
Score:
3/10

Cynthia Erivo in Givenchy

Thoughts: Honestly, na wa for you. Loved the beads and the top, but not the skirt.
Score:
3/10

Kwame Onwuachi

Thoughts: Love his food, but not this look. It just seems to drown him a bit too much.
Score:
2/10

Chioma Nnadi

Thoughts: Just not superfine if you ask me. Sorry, British Vogue editor.
Score:
2/10
