On Feb. 20, Chinese social media platform Weibo began internal testing of its integration with DeepSeek. Weibo’s CEO Wang Gaofei posted several updates on Weibo’s intelligent search feature, demonstrating how DeepSeek’s R1 model analyzed current discussions on the X-like microblogging platform and provided conclusions based on the content.

Since it’s launch in late January, DeepSeek has gained international popularity. At the same time, its integration into China’s business ecosystem is progressing rapidly, with the ChatGPT rival also making waves in the smartphone industry. Major Chinese phone manufacturers such as Huawei, Honor, OPPO, Vivo, and Nubia have all announced plans to integrate DeepSeek’s large model into their systems.

On Feb. 16, WeChat, Tencent’s super app with over 1.3 billion monthly active users, officially began a grayscale test for integration of the DeepSeek-R1 model. On the same day, Baidu Search also announced a full integration of DeepSeek. [36Kr, in Chinese]
