What is Spotify Wrapped and how does it work?

It’s that time again, where Spotify reveals all your unique listening habits from the past year.

Known as Spotify Wrapped, the feature has become a major perk for Spotify users as it allows both free and Premium subscribers to see which songs, artists, genres and even podcasts have been a favourite in the last 12-months.

But what actually is Spotify Wrapped and how does it work? We explain everything you need to know, from what the feature is and where you can find your own rundown.

What is Spotify Wrapped?

Spotify Wrapped provides an in-depth look at your listening habits over the past year. Naturally this includes the music you’ve listened to, but also the podcasts and audiobooks you’ve accessed too.

The way Spotify presents this data changes every year, though it usually involves some interactive elements including shareable cards which list your top 5 songs and artists, plus how many minutes you’ve listened to Spotify and your top genre too.

For 2025, Spotify Wrapped has introduced a few new features. Firstly, alongside your top songs, artists and genres, you’ll now see your top albums and even a suggested listening age based on the release years of your most listened to tracks.

Also introduced for 2025 is Clubs. Every user will be sorted into one of six Clubs, with each representing a different listening style, where you’ll then see the role you play within that community. Speaking of community, with the new Wrapped Party, you can turn your data into a competition with your friends.

How do you get Spotify Wrapped?

You can find your personalised Wrapped within the Spotify iOS or Android smartphone app. Simply tap the Home button and select the Wrapped filter at the top of the screen, as seen here.

If you can’t find your Wrapped, then make sure your Spotify app is up-to-date.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking?

One of the biggest questions surrounding Wrapped is when does Spotify stop tracking your data. There have been rumours that Spotify only collects data from 1st January to 31st October, which means everything you listen to in November and December theoretically won’t count towards your listening profile.

All Spotify will say on the matter is that tracking stops a few weeks before Wrapped launches to give its data scientists time to put the viral experience together. But yes, we’d say that any music you listen to towards the end of November and in December will likely not count to your Wrapped experience.

When will I get my Spotify Wrapped?

Since its inception back in 2016, Spotify Wrapped launches at the end of the year, typically around the end of November to the beginning of December. For example, the first four (2016-2019) all took place on either the 6th or 5th December, while Spotify Wrapped unveiled on 1st December in both 2020 and 2021.

2022 and 2023 were slight anomalies, as they took place respectively on Wednesday 30th and 29th of November.

In 2024, it rolled out on December 4th while this year kicked off on December 3rd. That means if you haven’t received your results by now, you can expect them to pop up on your home screen soon.

Is Spotify Wrapped only for Premium users?

No, Spotify Wrapped is available to both free and Premium users, meaning you don’t need to pay anything to view your results.
