Apple is known to bring innovation and enhancement in its smartphone design and technology; however, even the most advanced and innovative company couldn’t predict what consumers really want. We are talking about the company’s most ambitious project, iPhone Air, which received low feedback from consumers. The latest addition from Apple was expected to make waves with its sleek design and powerful features. But it seems the iPhone Air is facing its own challenges.
Early reports coming to the forefront, indicating that one of the most ambitious models of the company is not receiving the feedback up to the mark, and hence, the company is rethinking and re-planning the production strategy of iPhone Air. The reports further mention that Apple started to rethink its production strategy just weeks after the launch of its iPhone Air. To recall, the tech giant introduced iPhone Air at its awe-inspiring event in September.
Lower Sales for iPhone Air
The iPhone Air is the latest model that has been reduced in production at Apple by a wide margin in the past few weeks, according to reports published by Nikkei Asia. Early strategies had the model supplying approximately 10 to 15 percent of all iPhone manufacturing, while poor consumer reception has caused the suppliers to cut down on orders of components and electronic modules.
A supply chain manager reported that manufacturing since November would be less than ten percent of the September production, indicating that the iPhone Air has reached the end-of-production stage in most markets.
iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max Receiving Decent Sales
In contrast, the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max are reportedly exceeding Apple’s expectations. The company is boosting the manufacturing capacity of the regular iPhone 17 by approximately five million and is also expanding the orders of the high-end Pro. The sources of supply chains reveal that the general production volume of the iPhone 17 line, which is seen to be 85 to 90 million units, has not been altered, showing that people are willing to buy the product.
On the official Apple website in the United States, the wait to receive an iPhone 17 with 256 GB of free storage is two to three weeks, and the wait to receive an iPhone 17 Pro is one to two weeks; meanwhile, the iPhone Air can be immediately picked up.
iPhone Air Specifications

Although Apple had planned that the iPhone Air was a transitional step to the first foldable iPhone, which was to be released in 2026, its first reaction in the market shows that customers are enjoying other models in the iPhone 17 line.
