WHATSAPP has added a long list of new features including the ability to leave voicemail.
And the special WhatsApp ‘missed call messages’ have a bonus trick that you can’t do with regular phone call voicemails.
It’s part of a sizeable batch of new tricks added to WhatsApp via updates.
And WhatsApp says the main new feature makes regular “voicemails a thing of the past”.
The Meta-owned app said: “We’re introducing another bundle of features just in time for the holidays.”
And chief among them is a new trick called Missed Call Messages.

They can be sent as a voice note, a bit like regular voicemail.
But you can also deliver a video note if someone has missed your call too – something you can’t do with traditional mobile voicemail.
“The holidays are a busy time packed with catching up with loved ones and sometimes you may not catch someone right away,” WhatsApp said.
If they don’t answer, you can now record a voice or video note, depending on the call type, in one tap for them to listen to later.
“This new approach will make voicemails a thing of the past.”
BONUS WHATSAPP FEATURES
That’s not all – the texting app has rolled several other big updates.
You can now add reactions in voice chats.
They’re quick conversations that let you quickly move between messaging and talking without ringing the whole group.
“Now you can react during a voice chat, so you can share a quick ‘cheers!’ without interrupting the conversation,” WhatsApp said.
There’s also a new group call speaker spotlight.

This will automatically prioritise the person currently speaking so that you can more easily follow along.
The Meta AI in your chats now as “new image generation model capabilities” – so you should notice “huge improvements” when you’re asking the chatbot to mock up pics.
You can also animate any photo into a short video using the Meta AI.
And if you’re using WhatsApp on desktop, there’s a new media tab for searching through your documents, links, and media.
WhatsApps says it has also “improved the look of link previews”, so long URL links won’t disrupt your chat.
There are some new stickers on Status, and WhatsApp has also added questions on Channels too.
