Some time soon – maybe even tomorrow! – your social media will be full of people sharing stats on their listening history for the year.

Spotify have managed to create a festive tradition as eagerly awaited as Santa himself by some, with the Wrapped annual data on what we’ve been listening to.

Many are wondering when this year’s highly anticipated review will be released, and whether they will be classed among the top listeners of their faves.

The music streaming company has not given a specific date for when it will hit our phones, but in previous years, it has been right around now.

And they have started teasing it, with a message: ‘Keep playing what you love, and we’ll get in touch when it’s ready. Until then, revisit the top songs of 2024.’

When could Spotify Wrapped 2025 come out?

For the last four years, it has been on a Wednesday. Last year it was Wednesday, December 4, in 2023 it was Wednesday, November 29, in 2022 it was Wednesday, November 30, and in 2021 it was Wednesday, December 1.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, December 3), is the closest Wednesday to the date last year, so it is a good bet for when it will appear.

Spotify teased the release on social media yesterday, saying: ‘Who do you think is on your Wrapped?’ alongside a ‘coming soon’ graphic.

Maybe they’ll keep us guessing by choosing a different day of the week entirely, but check your phone nevertheless.

To make sure you get it as soon as possible, make sure your app is up to date, and keep checking.

What were the top songs and artists of 2024?

While we wait for 2025, last year’s Spotify rankings might come to mind. The worldwide Wrapped data for 2024 put Taylor Swift once again as the top artist, with more than 26.6billion global streams since January 1.

Second place was The Weeknd, followed by Bad Bunny – who had taken the second spot the previous year, then below the podium was Drake, Billie Eilish and Travis Scott.

The top songs had different contenders, however, with the most streamed being Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, followed by Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things and then Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish.

Fourth and fifth came from FloyyMenor and Cris MJ with Gata Only, Teddy Swims with Lose Control.

Whether the same artists have this much success this year remains to be seen.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop counting?

There has long been a suspicion that Spotify stops counting your listening stats on October 31.

But the company has denied this on social media, posting on X last year: ‘Don’t worry, Wrapped is still counting past Oct. 31’.

The likely cut-off for data collection is early- or mid-November, a few weeks before the release in late November or early December.

Is Spotify Wrapped only for Premium subscribers?

Spotify Wrapped is available for both Free and Premium users.

However, Premium users get additional personalised data, such as how many new artists they discovered that year.

But I simply cannot wait for Wrapped!

Okay, calm down.

But if you really are desperate, contender Deezer has pipped them to the post with ‘My Deezer Year’, which they say ‘offers users the chance to be roasted or hyped up for their music taste, plus creates a personalised quiz of your music taste that you can share with friends’.

They said the most streamed songs worldwide this year were:

  1. APT – Rosé, Bruno Mars
  2. Die With A Smile – Lady Gaga
  3. Ordinary – Alex Warren
  4. Messy – Lola Young
  5. Beautiful Things – Benson Boone
  6. BIRDS OF A FEATHER – Billie Eilish
  7. A Bar Song (Tipsy) – Shaboozey
  8. Anxiety – Doechii
  9. That’s So True – Gracie Abrams
  10. Pink Pony Club – Chappell Roan
