Where Is The Third Film With Taron Egerton?

M6 puts the filmography of Matthew Vaughn in the spotlight. Kingsman : Services Secret is broadcast on Channel 9 this Wednesday. While Matthew Vaugh has been promising a third film for years, since the release of Cercle d’or in 2017, should we fear that the project will never see the light of day? Where is he? We take stock.

Eggsy and Harry have stayed away from the radar for 8 years now. Matthew Vaughn, who has since devoted himself to other projects, is not finished with them yet and has since been working on a sequel. According to him, things are moving in the right direction. In the midst of a promotional campaign for For Argyhis action comedy carried by Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell, he explained in 2024 to Collider that the writing is not finished. He specified that, if the first and last acts were completed, he still had to refine the second with Jane Goldman.

“Act two still needs a little work, but we know how it starts and how it ends.”. He adds that he wants to speed up the pace to allow a release very soon. “We have to do it before… I dare say it: Colin is too old. Taron doesn’t look young anymore either.”

The story should thus be about concluding their shared adventures, offering them a worthy farewell. We can hope that everyone comes out unscathed, thatEggsy can see his mentor retire and continue to climb the ranks in the small world of espionage. Obviously, nothing has been confirmed about this yet. We simply know that the project is developed under the code name The Blue Bloodundoubtedly in reference to a royal lineage.

As a reminder, in the second film, Eggsy had a relationship with Princess Tilde. Just before the credits rolled, viewers discovered that the spy had decided to marry this member of the Swedish royal family. Will the spy carry out a high-risk mission within his in-laws? It is still too early to know.

Who will be in the casting?

Difficult to imagine a return of Kingsman at the cinema without its two stars: Taron Egerton and Colin Firth. Vaugh’s recent statements leave no room for doubt, both actors will be on the trip. Still, the identity of those who will face them is a mystery. We can nevertheless say with (almost) certainty that certain actors from previous films should not be invited. This applies to Mark Strong whose character met a tragic end. The same goes for Sophie Cookson who played Roxy aka Lancelot. On the other hand, nothing excludes a return of some members of the Statesmen like Ginger Alle, played by Halle Berry or even Agent Tequila by Channing Tatum.

When is it?

Fans of unusual spy stories will still have to be patient. Neither 20th Century Studios nor Marv Films have announced a release date. Worse, the boss of 20th Century cooled the ardor of the most impatient spectators. He indicated to The Hollywood Reporter in 2024: “There are no plans to do so in the near future”. It must be said that the director suffered a significant failure with Argylle at Apple Studios and that The King’s Man : Première Mission was not a great success either. Still, Vaughn had big ambitions for his spy duo. For now, it smells rather scorched.
