The end of The Boys is about to begin. Prime Video‘s massively popular superhero satire, created by Eric Kripke and inspired by the Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson comic run, follows a group of corporate-owned Supes and the resistance fighters working tirelessly to take them down. Season 5 of the show will bring this core story to an end, and by the looks of the new trailer, it’s going to be an explosive bloodbath.

It’s clear that The Boys fandom is passionate, and many viewers have their own expectations for the new episodes. I’m no exception. After that eventful season 4 finale and the events that transpired in Gen V season 2, the hype for the landmark series’ return is at an all-time high. Well, for me, anyway.

What do I want to happen in The Boys’ final season? So many things. But in an effort to keep this article under a mile long, I’ve narrowed it down to five epic moments I can’t wait for. If you’re not caught up on The Boys or Gen V, tread lightly. There are major spoilers below.

Ashley’s big superpower reveal

I never expected to see Ashley (Colby Minifie) survive and watch Victoria Neumann (Claudia Doumit) die, but here we are. Last season, Ashley manipulated her way into the CEO position at Vought. Her promotion was short-lived, though. When Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) — the world’s smartest Supe — entered the picture, Ashley was pivoted into being more of a face for the company, without any real power.

Season 4’s finale found Homelander on a tear, determined to destroy anyone with incriminating information about him or the company. Ashley fell under that category since she learned of Homelander’s secret stash of Compound V. So, as any scrappy person would do, she broke into Homelander’s apartment and injected herself with a vial of the blue goo with the motivation of making herself impervious to attack.

The last we saw of her, Ashley was experiencing some serious pain from the drug. As seen in the trailer for the fifth season, though, she looks as if she’s in tip-top shape. So, seriously, what power did she get?

Soldier Boy season 3 the boys

Soldier Boy better cut Homelander down to size

Homelander (Antony Starr) will reunite with his dear old dad in season 5. The question is, though, why? Why would he wake up Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) after the damage that was caused in the third season? Maybe it’s to add to Homelander’s power. After all, he is now running the government.

Or perhaps, Soldier Boy is coming back to help Homelander’s mission to become immortal.

For the past few seasons, we watched Homelander grapple with getting old. But his quest for the first iteration of Compound V — the drug that gave Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) and Soldier Boy immortality — means there’s intel his dad possibly has that he absolutely needs.

Then again, it’s already been teased that Soldier Boy’s reason for appearing in the new episodes is to kill Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). If you recall, back in season 3, the two partnered up to kill Homelander. However, when Soldier Boy turned his attention to Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) — the boy that Butcher and Homelander both consider a son — Billy stepped in the way and fought back.

That Supernatural reunion

It’s been a long time coming, and finally, Sam and Dean Winchester will reunite on screen. Well, not exactly. But you get the point. Having Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles sharing a scene — or, if we’re lucky, multiple scenes — tugs at the nostalgic Supernatural heartstrings. Misha Collins, who played their angel pal Castiel in the long-running series, will also be in the new season of The Boys.

Details on the characters they’re playing have been kept under wraps, but that sequence in the trailer of Ackles holding Misha up by the neck makes me think they won’t be getting along at all.

The Gen V heroes go pro

In the second season of Gen V, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) was unknowingly being mentored by Godolkin, the god-tier Supe who started Project Odessa — the secret initiative that created Homelander. By the season’s end, Marie’s blood powers had grown exponentially to the point where she could pop heads. She learned she had this skill when she burst Godolkin’s noggin during a battle that required her college Supe friends Emma (Lizze Broadway), Jordan (London Thor), Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) to assist.

The final moments of the season found them teaming up with Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), officially entering the resistance against Homelander. Marie’s role in the fight against Homelander and crew is an important one; she has the same power Neumann had. This means she may be able to pop Homelander’s head. A target will definitely be on her back going forward. But I must say it’s pretty cool to see these youngsters teaming up with the show’s core heroes.

An epic Billy Butcher/Homelander boss battle

Throughout the show’s run, The Boys has given us plenty of action-packed battles between Butcher and his crew and Homelander and his Seven. We know what it looks like when Butcher and Homelander throw hands. But now that Butcher is on equal footing with his tentacular Supe upgrade, things should get even more earth-shattering in the final season.

There are more than a few loose ends here regarding Butcher’s endgame.

Will Butcher release the Supe-killing virus, thus wiping out all Supes, including himself? If he unleashes a pandemic, which is what he said was his plan in the fourth season, will Ryan step up and use his powers to save the world? However things go down, The Boys will tear it all down when the show returns this April.
