Earlier today (Jan. 20), we reported on a major rumored redesign for the iPhone 18 Pro that would see the Dynamic Island disappear and the front-facing camera move to the left side of the display. However, a trio of prominent Apple leakers popped up to refute that rumor.
Controversial leaker Jon Prosser shared 4K renders of the iPhone 18 Pro with a missing Dynamic Island and left-hand camera punch out as part of a rumored under-screen Face ID upgrade.
This Face ID is made up of three modules mounted on a cable: an infrared flood illuminator, a centered dot projector and an infrared camera on the right.
Shortly after Instant Digital’s post, the X account “ShrimpApplePro” corroborated their report. ShrimpApplePro has stepped back from leaks but has accurately leaked details about Apple devices in the past.
Later, former display analyst Ross Young also said that he had alluded to this setup months ago.
All three leakers have accurately relayed display rumors for multiple devices, including Apple ones, over the years. Their rebuttals to the original Jon Prosser leak are notable due to their track record.
Apple will most likely reveal the iPhone 18 lineup in September, barring any setbacks.
