Will you be able to observe the total lunar eclipse of September 7?

On the night of September 7 to 8, astronomy lovers will be entitled to a rather rare spectacle: a total lunar eclipse, sometimes called “blood moon” since our satellite will adorn itself with a pretty copper dress.

Like solar eclipses, these phenomena also arise from an alignment between celestial bodies – in this case, the sun, the earth and the moon, in this order. The difference is that it is our planet that deprives its natural satellite of light emitted by the star instead of the opposite.

Technically, the eclipse will start just a little before 6.30 p.m. The whole, the phase where the moon is entirely immersed in the shade, will start an hour later, at 7:30 p.m. it will last a little less than 1:30, and will end at 8:52 p.m. after reaching its Maximum at 8:11 p.m.Paris time.

This means that it will be possible to enjoy the show from France – but not everyone will be housed in the same brand. Reunion French people will be able to observe the entire phenomenon And take advantage of all the pretty variations of shade, caused by optical effects linked to the atmosphere of the earth.

Residents of Metropolis, on the other hand, will be less well off. Indeed, The moon will not get up until 8:20 p.m. (Paris time) This Sunday, September 7. This means that entry into the shadows, the start of the whole and its maximum will not be visible from France; We will have to be satisfied with the end of the totality and the exit of the shadow cone.

If the view will not be as spectacular in mainland France as in Reunion, it should still be possible to capture some very beautiful photos!
