Fritz credits girlfriend for Wimbledon success
Taylor Fritz has credited girlfriend Morgan Riddle for his strong showing at Wimbledon this year after his spot in the semi-final for the first time in his career.
The US Open finalist, 27, defeated Karen Khachanov 6-3 6-4 1-6 7-6 on No1 Court yesterday afternoon to set up a last four clash with Carlos Alcaraz.
Fritz has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, having made drastic improvements to his game.
But in 2021, the American found himself at a crossroads in his career having lost to Alexander Zverev in round three of Wimbledon – consigning him to dropping out of the world’s top 40.
Years later, girlfriend Morgan revealed a note that Fritz wrote to himself after that match.
It read: “Nobody in the whole world is underachieving harder than you, you are so f***ing good but 40 in the world get your f***ing s*** together.”
Following his win over Khachanov, Fritz was asked by the BBC’s Rishi Persad about the note.
Tick tock for tickets
Still interested in going to Wimbledon this year?
Well it’s a good thing there are still some tickets available.
The ballot for specific matches and tickets has closed but Wimbledon remains one of the only remaining sporting events where the public can buy tickets on the day of play.
The Queue remains a very popular way to attend the event, although we’d advise early arrival (or even the night before)
Each day it is possible to purchase a limited number of Show Court tickets or Grounds tickets.
The different tickets will allow specific access to certain courts.
There is limited availability on both, but tickets do also frequently become available later in the day should those already inside choose to leave.
Wimbledon also offers a variety of hospitality packages which includes fine-dining, complimentary drinks, prime seating, a concierge service and buggy shuttles to the Gate.
