Wine 10.12 has been uncorked as the latest bi-weekly development release of this open-source software running Windows games and applications on Linux and other operating systems.
While many open-source projects are no longer pursuing enhancements to their X11 code paths, Wine 10.12 does bring some additional work to its X11 driver. Wine 10.12 has gained an optional EGL back-end in the X11 driver for OpenGL contexts as an alternative to the GLX back-end.
Wine’s EGL OpenGL back-end for X11 is currently considered experimental and can be enabled via the “UseEGL” option while in its experimental state.
Wine 10.12 also adds support for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) services, more support for generating Windows Runtime metadata in WIDL, and various bug fixes.
Wine ARM64 builds are also now enabled in Wine’s GitLab continuous integration (CI) for hopefully catching more ARM64-specific issues moving forward.
There are 17 known bug fixes for the week ranging from Internet Settings issues to older games like Solder of Fortune II crashing.
