The organization Women in Techwhich has as a mission Move towards the closure of the gender gap in the Stem sectors, has opened its chapter in Spainwith the purpose of becoming the reference community for the professional development of women in technology in the country.
Women in Tech Spain Chapter, as well as the chapters of the more than 50 countries in which the organization has a presence, will seek to promote women’s leadership in Spain, equitable access to technology and the formation of new generations of women in digital innovation.
The organization begins its activity after celebrating a pre -launch event in the offices of Mioti, with which an initial volunteer base was consolidated, in addition to expanding its visibility in networks and energizing its local community. The Spanish Women In Tech division was born in a context in which there is more and more demand for female talent in technology, with institutional support for STEM education in a growing interest and interest in inclusive leadership models.
Despite this favorable environment for the development of female talent in the technology sector, there are still important challenges to address for its progress. Among them the low presence of women in media in the sector, the lack of clear impact metrics and the need for sustainable resources to climb initiatives.
In Women in Tech they bet on a comprehensive approach to foster female advance in Stem, since they combine education, leadership, entrepreneurship and digital innovation with a strong social commitment. Its international network, its alliances with universities and technological companies, and its ability to generate high -impact events give it a solid strategic position.
Women in Tech Spain will be promoted by a team of voluntary women with extensive experience in leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation. Patricia Arboleda will be its general director. It has an outstanding trajectory in technology companies, and is currently a professional dedicated to talent management, leadership and executive coaching.
They complete the professional prestige team in different professional fields, which will be voluntarily in charge of the different areas of organization. Marta Piedrafita will be director of Partnerships; Beril Levi, Director of Education; Mertxe Idoate, Director of Operations; Mataly Sorokina, director of Human Resources; María José González, marketing director; Loreto Serrano, director of Erg programs; María Ángeles Aguilar, employability director; and Mónica González Ortín, Director of Communication.
In its initial phase Women in Tech Spain already has more than 200 active women in their Hub Women in Tech. This hub is a virtual space of connection, learning and mentoring, which will be the epicenter of the activities of the organization in Spain. It will offer inspiring events with leaders of the technology sector, training and digital training programs.
It will also host Visibility and networking initiatives, as well as strategic alliances with institutions public and private. Through the Hub website, the organization offers its members centralized access to training, mentoring, labor opportunities, networking, executive programs and crowdfunding for technological startups.
