Sometimes there are deals that are just so good that you almost feel compelled to buy the product, even if you don’t need it. No? Just me? Okay, fine. But seriously, the Fire HD 8 was already a great budget tablet at its regular price of $99.99, but this Prime Day deal is an absolute steal. It’s not the biggest or most powerful tablet on the market, but the Fire HD 8 does just about everything you’d want in a streaming-centered device.

Don’t miss out on any of the savings. Make sure to keep an eye on our round-up of the Best Prime Day 2025 Deals.

Powered by a six-core, 2.0GHz ARM processor and comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, this tablet runs on Amazon’s exclusive operating system, Fire OS, which is a heavily modified version of the Android. The company has its own app store stocked with many of your favorite games and streaming apps. That said, it does lack all Google products, so you won’t be able to access Docs, Sheets, or your Drive from this device. Amazon also doesn’t play nice with Apple, so Apple TV+ is missing as well. But there are still a plethora of streaming options, including Disney, Hulu, Netflix, HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, and of course, Prime Video.

If you want to read, the Fire HD 8 has you covered. You can access all of your Kindle books, as well as library books from the Libby app. You can peruse the web on Amazon’s Silk browser and even turn the tablet into a smart display via Echo Show mode. It may be priced as a toy, but the Fire HD 8 is a full-fledged tablet.

We like it so much that we’ve given it our Editors’s Choice Award as the best cheap tablet. Is it perfect? No. There are more robust devices out there, especially for people who want to use their tablets to create content as well as consume it. Even at its regular price, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better value tablet. At its current sale price? Absolutely unbeatable.
